Why the length warnings matter

Google rewrites or truncates titles that do not fit the results page layout, and cuts descriptions around 155-160 characters. The truncated version is rarely the best version of your pitch - it usually ends mid-clause. The counters above turn red as you pass the practical limits, so you can tighten the copy before it ships rather than after.

Pixel width, not character count, is what actually truncates a title; that is why a title full of wide capitals can be cut before 60 characters. Treat the limits as strong guardrails, not guarantees.

Usage example

A product page gets: title Stainless Steel Pour-Over Kettle - 1L Gooseneck | BrandName (49 characters, fits), description Precision-flow gooseneck spout for pour-over control. Food-grade steel, works on induction. Free shipping over $35. (117 characters, fits). Paste the generated block into the <head> of the page and you have covered search snippets plus the Twitter/X and WhatsApp link preview in one pass.

For a new blog post, generate the tags first, then use the slug generator for the URL - the title you write here is usually the source for both.

Frequently asked questions

Do meta descriptions affect rankings?

Not directly - Google has said so for years. They affect click-through rate, which is where the ranking benefit comes from. A compelling description earns the click a bland one loses.

Do I need both Open Graph and Twitter tags?

Most platforms fall back to Open Graph, and X also reads og: tags when twitter: tags are missing. Generating both costs nothing and avoids surprises on platforms that only read one.

Should every page have unique tags?

Yes. Duplicate titles and descriptions across pages invite both ranking confusion and search-engine-generated rewrites. The canonical URL field here is there for exactly that discipline.
