Word Frequency Counter
Paste any text and get a ranked word frequency list with counts and share of text, optional stop-word removal and case folding. Runs entirely in your browser.
What gets counted and what does not
Words are split on whitespace and punctuation, so cost-per-unit counts as one token and cost, per unit counts as three. With case folding on, Amazon and amazon merge into a single row - the default, because in most analyses they are the same word. Turning it off keeps them apart, which matters when the capitalisation itself distinguishes a brand from a common noun.
Stop-word removal drops the high-frequency glue words that otherwise occupy every row of the top of the list while telling you nothing about the content. The share column is computed against the counted total, so removing stop words raises the shares of what remains instead of leaving them adding up to less than one hundred percent.
Usage example
You have a competitor's three-page product description and want to know which claims it repeats. Paste the text, leave both options on, and the top of the list shows the words the copy leans on - if stainless and lifetime appear near the top, those are the claims doing the work. Paste the same text a second time a week later after their rewrite and compare the first twenty rows: words that climbed are the new emphasis, words that fell were dropped.
The counts are also a fast sanity check on your own draft before it goes anywhere near a search result - a page meant to target one topic should not have that topic's words ranking fifth behind filler. When the same analysis needs to run over many short texts, the character counter handles the length side, and the CSV to JSON converter gets a keyword export into a form scripts can read.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a limit on how much text I can paste?
There is no upload limit because nothing is uploaded - the constraint is your browser's memory. Tens of megabytes of plain text process without difficulty; if the tab feels sluggish, split the paste and run the sections separately.
How are hyphenated and accented words handled?
Hyphens, apostrophes and punctuation are treated as separators, so well-reviewed becomes well and reviewed. Accented characters are kept as letters, meaning cafe and cafe with an accent count as different rows - folding them together would need a transliteration step this tool does not pretend to do.
Where do the stop words come from?
From a fixed list of the most common English function words. It is not configurable in this version, so if you need domain words treated as noise (say, ignoring the word size across a batch of listings), remove them manually from the source text before pasting.
