How the math works
Payment fee = price × rate + fixed (+ price × penalty on a third-party gateway). Subscription share = monthly plan fee ÷ orders. Refund loss assumes you keep nothing from refunded orders: refundRate × price. Net profit is everything else subtracted from the selling price.

What is the Shopify third-party gateway fee?
If your primary payment provider is not Shopify Payments, Shopify charges an additional 2.0% (Basic), 1.0% (Shopify) or 0.6% (Advanced) per transaction, on top of your gateway's own fees. PayPal and manual payments are excluded from this penalty when Shopify Payments is active.
Does the subscription share belong in per-order profit?
Yes, if you want true unit economics. A $39 plan across 200 orders adds ~$0.20 per order; across 20 orders it's $1.95 — enough to flip a thin margin negative.
